Abstract
The results of some studies are illustrated concerning the nunerical treatment of Back Analysis problems in the field of So1l and Rock Engineering. These numerical techniques are viewed as a practical tool for reducing the uncertainty that in many design situations affects the parameters governing the solution of the geotechnical problem. The difference between the so called "direct'' and "inverse" approaches is discussed, considering both deterministic and statistical view points, and some applications are illustrated aimed at clarifying the fundamental features of the adopted solution techniques.File in questo prodotto:
