Design can be defined as the human activity aimed to conceive and develop the “best” constructive solution, capable to perform a given function. In this paper we will present the conception of a data base capable to archive constructive solutions related to a given function. The aim of this DB is to be the starting point of the design process and a useful tool for the designer. The structure of this database has been conceived starting from the schema of the design process, in order to store a functional model derived from several functional representations available in the technical literature.

Abstract

Design can be defined as the human activity aimed to conceive and develop the “best” constructive solution, capable to perform a given function. In this paper we will present the conception of a data base capable to archive constructive solutions related to a given function. The aim of this DB is to be the starting point of the design process and a useful tool for the designer. The structure of this database has been conceived starting from the schema of the design process, in order to store a functional model derived from several functional representations available in the technical literature.
