The present paper proposes an improved predictive modulation strategy for multiconverter systems. Its features are fixed switching frequency and precalculated commutation instants, allowing an accurate phase shift of the current ripple. Flux linkages are assumed as control variables to allow insensitivity to possible inductance nonlinearity and inductive coupling. The problem of current dependence is solved in this paper by introducing auxiliary decoupling variables. Each switching basic element is driven separately and the independence of basic elements assures optimum results and performances. A general and modular approach for the switching strategy formulation over a wide class of converters is discussed in detail. The proposed method is applied to a particular power converter configuration as a case of study, even if the approach is presented in a general form. Simulation results and frequency analysis are reported.
