Virtual Campus 1 is a research project which aims to provide a comprehensive and innovative e-learning environment for authoring, fruition and evaluation. The paper presents the Tutoring and Validation module developed for Virtual Campus. The Validation tool tracks the learners ’ behaviour within the Virtual Campus environment and defines the “user model ” in terms of learning attitudes (derived by exploiting Bayesian networks), efficiency of learning strategies, and attitude to cooperation and communication. Derived information are used to build and make available graphical reports to learners and teachers. The Tutoring tool exploits the user model to support learners ’ choices making suggestions which take into account the style, the behaviour and the results obtained in the past. 1

Abstract
