Abstract

PM generators feeding capacitor loaded diode bridges are becoming popular as a first conversion stage in VSVF wind energy generation. The analysis of this subsystem by time domain simulation tools is computationally heavy and it does not allow to direct calculate average powers, more useful than instantaneous values in efficiency and thermal evaluations. The paper develops an equivalent a.c. phasor model of the generation-rectification subsystem. Some numerical simulations and experimental tests are presented, in order to validate the model, evaluating its accuracy level and limits of applicability.
