This paper presents the work that has been performed on a wind tunnel aeroelastic wing model to implement a multi-surface modal control. Wing model realization, control system and experimental setup will be here described briefly, together with a methodology used to tune numerically the simple control system. Usage of multiple wind tunnel test session has been adopted firstly to perform numerical-experimental correlations and then to optimize control parameters. The entire control system shows off capability to damp wing bending and torsion mode, within model flight envelope, still remaining stable.

Abstract

This paper presents the work that has been performed on a wind tunnel aeroelastic wing model to implement a multi-surface modal control. Wing model realization, control system and experimental setup will be here described briefly, together with a methodology used to tune numerically the simple control system. Usage of multiple wind tunnel test session has been adopted firstly to perform numerical-experimental correlations and then to optimize control parameters. The entire control system shows off capability to damp wing bending and torsion mode, within model flight envelope, still remaining stable.
