PM generators are becoming popular, thanks to their structural and efficiency favourable features. The paper analyses medium rating, cylindrical air-gap, PM generators, equipped with concentrated windings with two coils per tooth; the field regulation is attained by reciprocally rotating two co-axial half-rotors, equipped with surface PMs. The following elements will be considered: − constructional aspects and models used in the design analysis; − investigation of various figures of merit, as a function of the machine length ℓ and of the number of poles.
